The Bundesliga club "would have loved" to see Messi take to the field at Borussia Park on Wednesday, but will be deprived of the advantage by his injury

Borussia Moenchengladbach have sent Lionel Messi a get well soon communication after the Argentine star was ruled out of Barcelona's trip to North Rhine-Westphalia with injury.

Messi, 29, tweaked his groin in trying to wriggle away from Diego Godín in Barca's 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid at the Nou Camp last night.

The Catalans announced today that there was no need for further tests on their number 10, but that he would miss three weeks of action.

And that means he is ruled out of Barca's trip to Moenchengladbach next Wednesday, something the Bundesliga club are most disappointed about.

What a pity," they wrote on Twitter.

"We would have loved to see you here with Barcelona at Borussia Park on Wednesday.
"Get well soon, Lionel Messi."

They accompanied the social media post with a picture of the injured Barca man and ¡ Que te mejores! - the Spanish translation of 'get well soon'.

Messi's withdrawal against Atletico triggered a mini-collapse of which the penalty will only be known at the end of the season.

They led through Ivan Rakitic's early header but after Sergio Busquets and Messi were taken off with knocks they immediately approved through Angel Correa and then battered late pressure from Atleti.
